Why We Hiked 14 Miles Through the Mountains of Northern Israel

The Zion Ops team takes on one final adventure through northern Israel, hiking 14 miles through rugged mountains in search of the Amud, the massive “pillar” of rock. With the Sea of Galilee waiting below, the team faces one last wilderness challenge.

Today we’re taking the entire Zion Ops team on one final adventure – we plan to hike 14 miles through the mountains of Northern Israel.

We’re starting way up here on a ridge, and somewhere down in this valley is the Amud, a massive rock formation whose name literally means “pillar” in Hebrew.

Our plan is simple: find the Amud, hike through the valley, and make it all the way down to the Sea of Galilee.

We’ve got coffee, protein bars, and a team that apparently thinks 14 miles through the wilderness is a good way to celebrate.

So let’s see if we can actually make it to the Galilee.
