On the sidelines of the UN this week, President Trump met with a number of Arab nation leaders, presenting what he is calling a “21-point peace plan” He reportedly promised Arab leaders he would block Israeli annexation of the West Bank and pressed Hamas to free captives without delay. The UN also adopted a “New York Declaration” to revive peace talks, though tensions flared as Macron urged U.S. pressure, Arab leaders warned about annexation, and Israeli diplomats accused the UN of bias for holding a key Gaza meeting on Rosh Hashanah.
Despite the war in Israel for the last two years, Jewish immigration has surged: over 50,000 immigrants have moved to Israel since October 7, with thousands more young volunteers arriving through Masa Israel Journey. On the ground, Israel faced new security challenges after a Houthi drone slipped past Iron Dome defenses in Eilat, striking near a hotel, injuring 48 people, and prompting an IDF emergency response.
