Ukraine, The Jews & the Lesson For Us Today – Part 2

As the war between Russia and Ukraine rages on, there is no sign of either side capitulating. Israel added their vote to the UN General Assembly’s resolution condemning Russia for their actions this week. Israel has also sent 100 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and has pledged to provide any other humanitarian assistance that it may need. The Jewish Agency has set up aliyah stations on Ukraine’s border, and Israel’s doors are open to welcome Jewish refugees to a new life in the land of their forefathers. They have already welcomed several thousand Ukrainian Jews, and are expecting at least 10,000 to make aliyah.

Because of Israel’s tenuous relationship with Russia in Syria, they are treading very lightly on a diplomatic level to avoid a full confrontation with Russia. For the last seven years, Russian troops in Syria have turned a blind eye to Israel’s air strikes on Iranian-backed Hezbollah targets in Syria, and Israel is concerned that if they condemn Russia too harshly, they will no longer continue to do so. To find out more about this topic, watch this week’s program on The Israel Guys Youtube channel.

In last week’s article, we spoke of Ukraine’s very difficult and tragic history with the Jews of Ukraine. Unfortunately, this article only scratched the surface of Ukraine’s horrible treatment of Jews over the centuries. However, I want to be clear – I am not saying that Russia’s invasion is God’s judgment for Ukraine’s persecution of Jews. All of us can only rest on the mercy of God for our actions.

However, I think history is a good teacher for us to live our lives by. By studying the history of other nations, especially their treatment of the Jewish people and the nation of Israel, we can strengthen our own resolve to stand even more firmly with the restoration of God’s Kingdom back to Israel. We can also take warning to never grow lax in our defense of the Jewish people.

Statistics show that anti-semitism is on the rise in nearly every nation in the world. As Christians who believe in the Bible, this should concern us.

The prophets are very clear that one day every nation in the world will fight and stand against Jerusalem. Since this refers to “nations,” that means that it will be up to individuals to stand against the tide of Jew-hatred and instead stand with the land and people of Israel. That means supporting Israel, the people of Israel, and the Jewish people who have not yet returned home.

Let me be clear. Many, many nations of the world have treated the Jews badly over the centuries. Millions and millions of Jews were murdered simply for being Jews, not only during the Holocaust, but also during World War 1, the Crusades, the Inquisition, and countless pograms.

We can only take personal responsibility, repent for the actions of our forefathers and our own nations’ guilt, and then forge a new path for history to remember us by. We must turn towards Jerusalem, come alongside the Jewish people and Israel, and stand unequivocally with the restoration of God’s Kingdom back to Israel. We must be firm in our resolve that when the time comes in our own country, we will be found counted among the “righteous among the nations” that stood with our Jewish brothers and sisters.

Speaking of the righteous among the nations, a recent list was sent to Israel’s Foreign Ministry of the 17 remaining Ukrainian “Righteous Among the Nations” that are still living. In total, Yad Vashem lists 2,673 Ukrainians who were responsible for saving Jewish lives during the Holocaust. Israel grants honorary citizenship to those who are counted in this list, giving them the opportunity to make aliyah if they wish.

When reading Ukraine’s history during the Holocaust, these several thousand gentiles are to be credited with a tremendous amount of bravery to have not only stood against the Nazis, but also against many of their own people in saving the lives of Jews.

With anti-semitism rising all over the world, it is a good reminder for us that no matter how many people will come against God’s land and people, He will always have a remnant who will stand with His Kingdom. Amidst an ever-growing darkness in the world, may we be counted amongst those who will be called “righteous among the nations” – who will have unconditionally stood with God’s Kingdom, His Word, the Jewish people, and the land of Israel.

  • The world is preparing itself to embrace a false savior ( to the Hebrews, Messiah) who will deceive the Jews at first with a peace treaty and giving of favors, then turn against them after 3.5 years. Please consider, through the Prophet Jeremiah, Yahweh promised a new covenant for Israel, who has never been able to keep the Mosaic covenant, and all the blood shed from bulls and goats and lambs NEVER could provide salvation, however, as the specter of death draws ever nearer, as lies and deceit envelop the earth, the Jewish people, stiffnecked as they are, are the beloved of Yahweh, and now is the time He will gather them….you see it happening. And the enemies surrounding Israel will come against her…. but Yahweh of Hosts will rise up against them, and destroy them on the mountains of Israel. What does Yahweh want from you? ” Believe on Him who He has sent.” Yeshua, fully God, fully man who was sent to save His people from their sins by giving His own blood as the once and for all time sacrifice for the cleansing of the defilement of sin/rebellion/unbelief toward the Almighty. Russia, Iran, Syria, Turkey, the U.S , etc .all are tools of Yahweh just as Babylon, Assyria, Philistines, Edom etc were Yahweh’s tools. Don’t you see? Please ask God to give you sight. He will give you a new heart and a new spirit wherein dwells true righteousness. He will be your Yahweh again, anew, and you will be again and anew, His people, and you/ Israel will take your place in Messiah’s Kingdom as rulers of the peoples and nations. All nations will bow to King Jesus. Have you opened your heart and soul to the truth revealed in your very own scriptures?
Today is the day of salvation.

  • I love what I’m reading! Truth! Thank you for all you do. Great content as well & I’m learning so much about Israel. God bless you! Shalom! 🇮🇱🇺🇸☮️🌹🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️

  • Luke, thank you for remembering to mention the Inquisition. Yes, in my family we remember it all too well. My late mother’s family escaped from Portugal to Holland & Hamburg, my late father’s family from Spain – part went back to the Holy Land/Israel & part to Serbia, then 5 centuries their descendants to the Holy Land of Israel to fight & build for the new State of Israel.
