You probably heard the news. Six high-profile terrorists escaped from the Gilboa prison in the north of Israel. At the time of this writing, they are still at large. Israeli media is speculating about potential multiple failures on the part of the prison system that led to the terrorists’ escape.
More than 200 roadblocks have been set up around the country with an emphasis on Judea and Samaria, as authorities are afraid that the terrorists will head for the Palestinian territories as soon as possible.
Just before beginning to write this article, an astounding headline appeared in the Israeli news: “Palestinian Authority helping Israel capture escaped terrorists”. This is after the wave of violence, riots, and even shooting that the IDF has seen all across Judea and Samaria this week. Hamas has even called for a “day of rage” in the biblical heartland – all in support of the escaped terrorists.
Just yesterday, we released a video on The Israel Guys channel detailing how the PA praised the escaped terrorists as “our heroic detainees”, and called their detention “a war crime that requires urgent international intervention to protect the heroic prisoners and free them from brutal occupation.”
Today, however, the PA has reportedly announced that they will be working with Israel to capture the escapees, but with a condition. They want Israel to not kill the high-profile terrorists, but instead, capture them. This is no doubt because the Palestinian Authority has high hopes that they will be released in a future prisoner exchange deal, even though several of them were serving life sentences for murderous terrorist attacks.
To add another bizarre layer to this Palestinian rhetoric charade, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas called President Isaac Herzog and Defense Minister Benny Gantz on Monday to wish them a happy new year (Rosh Hashanah). This was soon after Benny Gantz met face-to-face with Abbas after a stalemate of nearly ten years. The two spoke of ways that Israel and the PA could work together to improve the lives of Palestinians, and Gantz offered to loan the PA more than 500 million shekels.
So what is the true sentiment of the Arab leaders in Judea and Samaria? Have they turned over a new leaf, and are now willing to recognize Israel, and work together for the common good of all? Far from it.
According to a Palestinian Media Watch report published on September 2nd, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the military wing of Fatah, held an open military exercise on the streets of Jenin. The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Israelis, and has been designated a terrorist organization by the United States, Canada, the UK, European Union, and others.
Not only did the Palestinian Authority security forces do nothing to stop the military exercise in Jenin, they went so far as to publish photos of the drill on the official Fatah Facebook pages. To put it clearly, the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade is simply the PA’s way to get their dirty work done while keeping face with the official “peace-keeping PA police force”.
To provide an even crazier twist to the story, the highest-profile terrorist who escaped from the Gilboa prison this week was Zakariya Zubeidi, commander of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. Perhaps the military exercise in Jenin was in preparation for their beloved terrorist commander’s escape (aka return from captivity)?
Make no mistake: when a Palestinian leader speaks words of peace to Israel or regarding Israel, it is only a ruse. It used to be the difference between their statements in Arabic and English. Now, however, we live in a world where the PA leadership can no longer cover up their true intentions by only speaking words of hate and violence in Arabic and words of peace in English. The modern world is too educated for that age-old trick.
You know the truth. The leaders of the Palestinian Authority hate Israel so much that they are willing to sacrifice their own people, using them as pawns in their political game.
The past two weeks have only confirmed what we knew to be true. These leaders have two faces: one that hates Israel and another that pretends to love peace.
