A chilling new report from the Israeli government highlights an alarming wave of antisemitic activity sweeping across Europe. The data paints a deeply concerning picture, with millions of online posts expressing hatred and vitriol towards Jewish people, coupled with a surge in physical attacks and violence targeting the Jewish community.
The numbers are staggering. In the United Kingdom alone, the report found nearly 2.5 million anti-Semitic posts on social media and online platforms. France had over 1 million such posts, Germany exceeded 300,000, and Spain saw around 1.3 million. This barrage of hateful rhetoric has manifested in real-world violence, leaving many Jewish people living in fear.
Just last weekend, a shocking incident unfolded in Amsterdam where hundreds of Muslim protesters attacked Jewish soccer fans as they left a stadium. The mob viciously beat the fans, hurling insults and even throwing some into a nearby canal. Distressing video footage shows the crowds still threatening and harassing Jewish people in the city days later, unwilling to back down from the violence.
This is not an isolated incident. In Antwerp, Belgium, a disturbing video captured an Orthodox Jewish boy being beaten up by a gang of anti-Zionist assailants in a parking garage. Across the continent, Jewish students have also been targeted – a student at the University of Dublin was cornered in a bar bathroom and severely beaten by three men after revealing his Jewish identity.
The violence has also spilled over into North America. In New York City, a Jewish father was assaulted while walking with his two young sons. Other Jewish individuals in the city have been slashed with blades, attacked on the street, and had their religious symbols ripped off by hostile perpetrators.
Experts warn that Europe has become a “tinderbox of Jew hatred,” with many of the anti-Semites seemingly unwilling to back down from the violence. The Israeli intelligence agency Mossad has even issued warnings to Jews in Thailand, advising them to hide any Israeli or Jewish symbols out of safety concerns.
Governments across Europe and North America are now bracing themselves for the possibility of further attacks, but the roots of this surging anti-Semitism run deep.
We need to stand with the Jewish people, online and in the real world, and pray for God’s justice to prevail, those that touch the Jewish people are touching the apple of God’s eye, and it won’t go well with them on Judgement day.
And speaking of touching the apple of God’s eye, it seems like Iran has developed powerful chemical weapons that could easily be used against Israel. A recent report released by the US State department reveals that Iran’s Chemistry department at the Imam Hosein University tried to obtain huge quantities of an animal sedative from Chinese suppliers. The quantity they were trying to get was enough for 10,000 doses, much more than could ever be used for research purposes.
Then last year when an anti-government hacker group in Iran leaked documents from the Iranian government, some of the documents showed they were making grenades from the same animal sedative to be used in warfare. When used, the gas could be exploded near human targets via grenade, mortar, or missile warheads to render people unconscious. With Iran being quickly pushed to the wall in their attempt to destroy Israel, who knows if they will actually decide to use this weapon? This is scary stuff and another reminder that we need to be praying for Israel even more during these intense times.
